The Athlete II

Inspired by the human condition, and painted from a sitter. A recent "remix" and a more elaborate version of an older study from 2020, which explores our impermanence, as well as materiality of the oil paint and a vivid colour scheme. The painting's title has been inspired by the idea that many of us race with life whilst often not winning. Year: 2024.  Media: oil on gessoed watercolour paper. 40 x 29 cm (15.5 x 11.5 in).
