I am a professional artist, originally from the former Yugoslavia, now living and working in Leicester, UK. After having studied architecture in Belgrade, I immigrated to Britain in 1988, where I practiced as an architectural illustrator for 25 years.
Than, between 2011 and 2013, I completed A Levels in fine art at the Leicester FE College and ever since have been working as a painter, specialising in figurative and landscapes. I work from life and photos alike and welcome commissions from individuals. For general enquiries and information please contact me via the Contact page of this site.
My Artist's Statement
Through my figurative work I try to articulate a visually compelling and thought provoking comment, which touches lightly on the idea of human condition. Therefore the aesthetic environment of my paintings and drawings is inhabited by many faces, heads and nudes.
The focus of my painting process is not on representation but on the rich and expressive oil paint applications, intriguing close-ups and untold elements. In case of my charcoal experiments I tend to go further by challenging the way this medium has traditionally been used, producing painterly drawings that sit happily on the edge of chaos.
Consequently the above may broadly be described as an expressive artistic language that hopefully does not prescribe but rather directs a viewer to their own experience, which I believe is a result more valuable and - ultimately - more memorable.
