SASHA MIHAJLOVIC
About
I am a professional artist, living and working in London, UK. After studying architecture in Belgrade, former Yugoslavia, I immigrated to Britain in 1988, where I practised as an architectural illustrator for the first 25 years.
Than, between 2011 and 2013, I completed A Levels in fine art at the Leicester FE College and ever since have been working as a painter, specialising in figurative and landscapes. I work from life and photos alike and welcome commissions from individuals. For general enquiries and information please contact me via the Contact page of this site.
My Artist's Statement
Through my figurative work I try to articulate a poetic, visually compelling and thought provoking comment on the idea of human condition. The focus of my painting process is not on representation but on the rich and expressive oil paint applications, intriguing close-ups and untold elements.
In the case of my charcoal experiments I tend to go further by challenging the way this medium has traditionally been used, producing drawings that sit happily on the edge of chaos.
The above may be described as an expressive artistic language that hopefully does not prescribe but rather directs a viewer to their own experience. This, I believe is more valuable and ultimately more memorable.
